ミヤのお家に行ったら
アメリカのような暮らしがそこにはあった。
日当りのいい部屋に
Craigslistで買った物や
外でひろってきた家具。
なのにセンスのいい萩焼きの器や
使い勝手のいいホーロー鍋があった。
いいもの、きにいったものは
大切に使う暮らしがそこにはあった。
まぁ、アメリカ人の生活＝消費社会
というのが一般的な考えかもしれんけど
うちのなかでは
アメリカやヨーロッパこそ
頭のいい人は
物とのいい暮らし
があるように思う。
そんなミヤの家から帰ってきた翌日
ただの言い訳にしかならんように聞こえるかもやけど
器を二枚、買ってしまった。
益子にあるキンタスタジオのもの。
でもこれが、
なんにでも丁度よくて
朝晩大活躍中。
たまにはこんな買い物だっていいろう。

The other day,
when I went to Miya's house,
I found there, a life that reminded me of America.
In the sunlit room
there were things she bought from craigslist
and a furniture she picked up from the street.
But sophisticated dish from Hagi
and a functional cast iron pot were also there.
In there was a life where one uses things she likes with good care.
People might think American lifestyle is pretty much consumerism,
but I think
in the States or Europe,
people with a good sense have a well-balanced life with things.
The next day after I came back from Miya's
and this might sounds like just an excuse,
I bought two dishes.
They are from Kinta Studio in Mashiko.
Those dishes are great for pretty much anything,
and I have been using them day and night.
I think it's sometimes good to shop things you like.
